SCHOOLS and AIR QUALITY
Kids can reduce air pollution, too! Clear the Air Tennessee empowers kids with the knowledge they need to become lifelong clean air advocates and influence the habits of their families at home.
Kids should have an important voice when it comes to clean air—poisonous fumes from car and bus exhaust are especially harmful to their developing bodies. And they’re standing closer to the ground, which means they’re breathing in even more pollution than adults do. They’re especially at risk before and after the school day, as they encounter heavy fumes from the idling buses and vehicles that get them to and from school. Learn more about the dangers of air pollution.
Schools, daycares, after school programs, and other groups serving Tennessee’s kids across the state are protecting kids’ health by partnering with Clear the Air Tennessee. That means talking to kids about the SIMPLE steps we can all take to improve air quality, and taking some steps around the school to reduce pollution, starting with something as easy as limiting idling times in the pick-up lines.
For Schools:
